The selection and application process of any equipment to be installed in a building is a difficult task which needs experience and responsible engineers to do all these processes. The governing body of Air Movement and Control Association is an international regulatory authority that heads the HVAC industry. It’s an association made for the companies that make equipment of air system which include:
- Fans
- Louvers
- Dampers
- Grilles etc
It governs all the equipment made for commercial, industrial and residential buildings.
Importance of this association and quality check:
A certified rating seal of this association means that a product has been tested according to the rules and guidelines of this association standards and it is quality assured like AMCA dampers. More importantly the manufacturer is registered with this association.
The above mentioned product is of enormous importance in HVAC equipment and there are many types of it like fire, smoke and combination of it. Below is a list of some selected types of this equipment.
Static devices:
In HVAC system a special device that is used to shut down if a fire alarm rings is called static device. But they are not tested to be closed in if the air is present in the ducts.
Dynamic devices:
Those devices that are tested to be closed in static conditions of pressure and airflow in modern designs of HVAC that have the feature of continuous running of fans in case of smoke are called dynamic devices.
Commercial devices:
Those specific devices which control and adjust the air flow of the HVAC system in the buildings. They are generally used to mix the air, supply or throw out the unneeded air. Commercial devises are of two types:
- Balancing devices
- Commercial Control
Balancing devices:
Those devices used to control and adjust the air flow but they are not used for shut off or automated controls are known as balancing devices. Manual balancing devices come with hand controllers for the purpose of locking them.
Types of balancing devices:
There are further two types of balancing AMCA dampers known as:
- Remote balancing devices
- Manual balancing damper
Commercial Control device:
Commercial control devices work in the same way as balancing devices in controlling the air flow but commercial control devices are used for positive shut off or automated controlling.
